support research

Build the infrastructure behind the next generation of research.

What we do

Through the Nishan Global Impact Fund (NGIF), we're investing in the next generation of innovators by strengthening STEM education and infrastructure in communities across the United States and around the world. We support nonprofit organizations, schools, and community initiatives that expand access to hands-on science and technology education, strengthen learning environments, and create pathways for young people to pursue opportunities in STEM.

The fund helps bring resources where they are needed most, supporting the development of STEM facilities, educational programs, technology, and community partnerships both domestically and overseas. By investing in the infrastructure behind STEM education, Nishan is helping communities build the capacity to prepare young people for the technologies and industries shaping the future.

Donations are processed through our secure HCB giving infrastructure. Contributions support Nishan Institute's charitable mission and may be allocated across operations, research publication and dissemination, platform engineering, product design, student access, and specialized initiatives such as the Global Research Access Fund, in accordance with applicable nonprofit requirements and organizational priorities.

Where your support goes

Nishan operates at the intersection of research, technology, and education. Contributions sustain the systems that move student work from a first draft to a documented, discoverable result.

research publication

We help students take work beyond the draft and into the scientific record. Support funds our publication infrastructure, DOI registration and long-term archiving, editorial review, research and writing guides, and the dissemination systems that make finished student work citable, documented, and discoverable to a wider scientific community for years after it is written.

platform engineering

Everything students touch runs on continuous engineering. Support sustains our servers, software development, database systems, authentication and security, and the integrations that tie the platform together — the unglamorous, ongoing work that keeps mentorship, collaboration, and submission tools fast, reliable, and available whenever a student sits down to do research.

product design

Research infrastructure should be built around the people who use it, not the other way around. Support goes toward interface and experience design, accessibility for students of every ability and connection speed, plain-language communication, and the steady refinement of tools so student researchers, mentors, and collaborators can focus on the science instead of fighting the software.

student access

We keep research open regardless of a student's resources or background. Support sustains mentorship, structured educational programming, research resources, student recognition, and the outreach that brings new students in — widening who gets to participate in rigorous, published science and making sure ability to pay is never the reason a capable student is left out.

global partnerships

Some of the widest gaps in research access are geographic. Support funds specialized initiatives with nonprofit partners — building research and educational infrastructure in regions with limited resources, from under-resourced schools to communities across Africa and beyond — so that talented students far outside our existing network gain a real, lasting path into scientific work.

Where your money goes

Contributions support Nishan's charitable mission — research publication and dissemination, platform engineering, product design, student-access programs, and specialized initiatives such as the Global Research Access Fund — allocated according to our current organizational priorities.

No. The amounts and supporter levels are illustrative impact examples, not restricted-use designations. Unless otherwise specified and legally permitted, gifts are unrestricted and directed where the need is greatest.

A designated portion of unrestricted donations — set by Nishan's executive leadership and subject to nonprofit and fiscal-sponsorship requirements — that supports international participation, scholarships, access initiatives, and research programs extending research beyond our existing network.

For most gifts we recommend unrestricted giving so we can send resources where they matter most. For larger or restricted contributions, contact us to discuss designation, subject to applicable nonprofit and fiscal-sponsorship requirements.
