How publishing at Nishan works

A preprint is a publicly posted manuscript that has not been formally published in a peer-reviewed journal. Posting a preprint does not prevent you from submitting your work elsewhere. See the Preprint Policy.

The Research Archive preserves and shares student research without representing it as journal publication. It may include work from inside or outside Nishan, and previously published work when rights permit. See the Archive Policy.

The journal is our formal publication pathway: editorial screening, review, a publication decision, and — for accepted manuscripts — publication and a DOI when registration is available. See the journal page.

A preprint may later be published in an external journal. When that happens, the external Version of Record is linked from the Nishan record, and the preprint remains online as part of the scholarly record.

Research objects receive a persistent Digital Object Identifier (DOI) when DOI registration is available. Until then, records display “DOI registration pending.” We never display a DOI before it is registered.

Preprints support version history. Each version is preserved; earlier versions are never overwritten, and each version is designed to receive its own identifier once DOI registration is enabled.

Authors retain copyright and choose a license for their work. By submitting, you confirm you have the right to submit the manuscript under the pathway selected and, for archive submissions, the right to host the specific version uploaded.

Removing a posted record does not delete its bibliographic metadata. A removed record’s page is retained with its title, authors, and an explanation of the removal, for scholarly recordkeeping.

Only manuscripts that pass the journal’s defined peer-review process are described as peer reviewed. Preprints and archive items are not peer reviewed by Nishan.

Corrections to published records are made transparently and recorded in the record’s editorial history.
